Any pet lovers ?

I had an Alaskan Malamute when I was a kid. Second dog I ever had. Great loving dogs. Gentle giants.

Holy Shit dude, those are some Hefty dogs, gorgeous too...!

I'll bet they combined eat 45-60 lbs of food or more a month..? What do ya feed an animal of that nature..?

Commercial dry dog food, or a little of everything..?

Beautiful..! MotorCity

I kiss my dog more than I kiss my girlfriend!! Lol!

I will own a dog for the rest of my life!

Hey bro funny story, true as hell. I had my wolf hybrid before I met my now wife. Well at first he hated her and chewed up every pair of shoes she Owned and heals and all. Lol

My dogs are my kids. Unfortunately my wife couldn't conceive. We had four a rott a pit and two chihuahuas and now we're down to the chihuahuas. Nothing worse than ya have to let em move on. It's been almost 3 years since I put the rott down and I still think of him often. Had a good life though he made it to 13 years and 3 months. Pretty much unheard of for that breed.

Lost my rott about 5 months ago to cancer, was 12 y/o male, had a great life, had more vacations around US then most humans. Was very healthy for most of his life but got bad hips around 9 but was able to manage with pain meds for a few years and he was very happy. I knew he was nearing end, his neck lymps swolled up to the size of baseballs. I work with assholes who have dogs and dont even think of taking them to vets, they laugh when i say im getting my dog on meds or taking them to get examined by a vet, pricks. Worthless fucks imo. Now have a rescue pitt/bulldog, can't wait to get home every day to see the lil bastard, was adopted and returned 3 times, nobody wanted the lil fella. First week he tore his damn ACL, cost me 3k off the bat, now he is on thyrpoid meds for life do to low thyroid ( tail was bald and very lethargic), never flinched at the cost, worht every penny and more. Appreciate all the fellow dog owners here at HCU who have the "bond" with their four legged bro. I have had dogs in my life since ive been a kid.

Beautiful animals , I also volunteer at rescue shelter , my father is douche when I thought Xena was dying he says put her in bag throw in trash only stupid animal . I’ll never forget his ignorance, you all here understand animal is family. This one place was going to charge me 4500$ to spay and or “ only $750 to kill it” quote un quote . That’s a veterinarian saying that wow ! So yesterday I took to my friends vet $400 saved her life and updated all her booster shots . How fucked !

I feel ya ! I can’t imagine having to let go of my pet ! Funny my other cat was a Ferrell rescue male he’s huge called bubba - very protective of Xena he’s friendly social can leap like 10 feet but first night back from Xena’s surgery I slept in Xena’s room ( yeah she has own bedroom lol ) bubba usually sleeps on chair with me 3am when roommate kicks him out for waking her I was not there so he pooped these 5 humongous shit logs in my work boots lol - at least they were dry n hard rolled right out

Rotts are a special breed. I got mine at 8 weeks and he was my co pilot he was with me all the time. I was fortunate that he never had any major health issues. When he was like 11 he started having occasional seizures. At 12 he was getting arthritis. I moved up to Michigans UP in july 2013 and my wife didn't move up till December but she came to visit for labor day and brought the dogs up. When the rott got out of the car it was sad, he was a shadow of his former self. Hard time walking then one day we went to Lake Superior and the minute he got out of the car he was like a young dog he actually took off to the water. It was priceless. That march his front shoulder started to grow a mass which turned out to be bone cancer. Had to out him down :-( still brings tears to my eyes. He was special my mom was still alive when I got him she loved his goofy ass.

And they can be so.. intimidating looking, I used to be scared to go around em', then we had a (ex wife n I ) had friends that had a big ole slobbery Sheeba, I was leary, but so lovable, she cured my fear.

She (Sheeba) must have been 120 lbs...!

But, anyone that has sense shouldn't even consider approaching a dog they don't know (at least not without the owner )

All.this dog talk is making me want to go to the rescue shelter & see what is there. Soon, I want to get one, maybe two .

Your post reminds me of when I had my Murphy
( Golden Retriever )in the U.P.

Same deal, he loved the water , let him out before our trip back home from Manistique, got him a good bath. But I think that was Lake Michigan, ..? Shit, I should know my geography, I've lived here all.my life

My Golden would Chase anything you threw into the drink,
He'd go down (submerged ) and fetch. Boy..., Memories.!

If you ever decide to come up to the UP let me know. I'm in the north far west. Bout an hour from Wisconsin. Beautiful up here even with the 300 inch average for snowfall :-()

I'm definitely up for it. That's my b-day weekend well the 10th close enough. Marquette is pretty cool it's the biggest city in the UP. My friend lived there for a few years, she just moved back my way. I'll check with her all the cool stuff to do in that area.
