Gym Pet Peeves

People that want to carry on hour long conversations right by the equipment you're wanting to use!!

Motherfuckfaces doing bicep curls in a squat rack!!!

I did this today! It was the only straight bar around so I loaded it up and did curls right there. If nobody is using it then heck why not, it's either that or grab a bar off a bench and do curls there. Our gym don't have Olympic bars laying around so you have to use a one from either the squat rack or a bench press and shoulder press, anyway your making that piece of equipment useless to anyone wanting to use it by taking the bar. I don't see any harm in it.

Our gym also don't have stands or trees for the plates so when you fill up the pegs on the machine there is nowhere else to put the plates so it is common place to leave weights on the machines, especially the leg press because you can only put four plates on each peg so I usually have to leave 6-8 plates on each side of the machine because there is literally no place put them, except on the floor and that is worse than on the machine.

I give the people that do that kind of stuff a break because they don't have a choice, now if there were a place to put the plates and they left them on the machine I would see it as them being rude, same with using a squat rack to do curls, if there were Olympic bars that aren't with a piece of equipment and they took up a squat rack or a bench press to do curls I would think they are an ass.

Thanks

Sounds like you need to change gyms lol

Yea but there are no gyms within a reasonable distance, I would be driving 45mins when this gym is less than 10mins away so I just deal with it! I was surprised at the lack of places to put weights, the gym has exactly 1 weight tree! The rest of the plates are on the pegs built on the machines or on the actual machine. At first I felt weird just leaving the weight on the machine but that is what everyone does and its ok so I follow suit, I sure as heck ain't gonna leave them on the floor for someone to trip on or kick when they walk by. And there are only 2 squat racks and most of the time the bars for them are being used by people doing dead lifts so if they are gonna use the bar for something other than swatting and leave the rack useless until they are done I will use it to do curls, you do what you gotta do right?!

Thanks

For some reason this pisses me off.. guys that never train legs!!

Or people who train the hell out of their legs but neglect the upper body so they look pretty ridiculous even. Another peeve is the damned lunk alarm at Planet Fitness (yes I go there occasionally as it is around the block from my newly purchased home). My main gym is way on the other side of town however.

Think I am the biggest guy at that PF lol.

PF looks like a great place to go for a cardio only gym. Equipment looks very clean and supposedly it is only $10 a month. I don't know though, not sure if it has to be direct draft out of an account. Just that it's my policy to avoid any kind of charge that comes automatically out of my account, no matter how little the cost.

Yeah I would go there mainly for my cardio days or for light workouts on machines when unable to go to the main gym I go to. I use a 2nd checking account for the payments, so I have no issues.

Is that a thing? You sure they're not some kind of athlete...a speed skater or weightlifter? Weightlifters squat 3 or 4 times a week with all the cleans and snatches.

Yea maybe a speed skater or cyclist type those people use legs more than upper body.

Ahh...the "text press"...just ask them to move, they don't care.

Or someone texting while sitting on the bench with bar loaded. Lol I get asked that many times when I am scrolling through my playlist looking for that song to start the lift with.

You mean it's a co-op gym? I thought it was only for females lol

Ya I know the type your talking about or the ones all covered with hair on their arms back shoulders just nasty with short shorts to show off their pale legs and body hair

Biggest for me hands down is ones that smell horrible and/or sweat all over the place without cleaning up behind themselves

Yes and such people others end up getting nasty infections and colds...no thanks as I caught a real doozy of a lung infection that put me in the ER last year. Even my doc told me gyms are the worst places to get something nasty.

I tell people to wipe down when done...there's bottles of sanitizer and paper towels all over the gym.
