About 3 years ago me and my wife woke up in the middle of the night and the house was on fire. i remember ruining out of the house and then after that all i know is what my wife tells me cause i dont remember anything. She made it to the living room and fell, her feet, legs and arms were badly burnt, she says i came back inside the house , picked her up and ran outside to the neighbors house ; another person could not make it out and she died there. My wife was flown in a helicopter to a military hospital i followed in an ambulance. she was 2 months in ICU getting different surgeries, me i stayed about 1 month after several surgeries on my hands and feet; when i made it out of the hospital they put me on those moon shoes...i had stapled grafted skin on my hands and i still started working out my upper body. the day they got me rid of the moon shoes i went to the park and ran and ran and ran...shouting out load thank you Lord ..i was so happy. I love working out10428618_10205363076379193_6399805008507220363_n.jpg10858645_10205377712865096_5390700648936693845_n.jpg

Fire is nothing to mess with! I was in a fire on Xmas eve, we had a new house built but they forgot to brick the wall inside the fireplace, had a fire that night, we went to bed and woke up with the detectors going off, whole down stairs in flames, got out but burned to the ground, talk about having nothing. all said and done, I ended up great and everyone safe.

Gotta say Pastor... That sucks! I mean, thank God you made, and you and your wife pulled through. Sucks about the one who didn't make it, and the lost keepsakes.
But glad, real glad you found an outlet.... And a healthy one at that. There are far to many "outlet" choices that just aren't good ones, but so easy to choose.

Oh that sucks, Roc. Have you gotten a settlement from the builder for that serious error? Fire certainly is nothing to mess with and you and Pastor got lucky to even be alive.

Should also go after the inspector who signed off on that.

+1 to that as well as that is a very serious oversight on the inspector’s part. That one may even cost the inspector his her job and license. Hope it is all made right for Roc and his family in the end.

Im not sure which state you're in, but in my state, Inspectors cannot be held liable. It's in the very first chapter of the code book. According to the Dept. Of Insurance, who oversees the building depts., there is no way to prove or disprove any part of an installed system was tampered with or altered after an inspector makes his/her initial inspection.

That's my state, we fall under the international code, with amendments.

The exception to the rule, is gross negligence. Which is generally, impossible to prove. Doesn't mean you can't cost him his job, just that monetary compensation from the inspector is off the table.
