I finally established in 1997 after many years travelling and my primary purpose was to compete, I did at least 2 shows a year, level 2, 3 even 4, always a light weigh, won my weigh class most of times but got massacred at the overall...all the way till 2008- 20010 . but the real truth is that my mind was not right, i faced struggles with drugs and alcohol to a very bad extension with devastating consequences bbuilding was my support and i wanted to get better to be a better athlete. i have been now 8 years clean and sober, i stopped cycling for 7 years..i went to a place to get restored and i did. Today my life is a blessing in every area and am great full to God for another chance . i decided to start cycling again am 54 now am in a great shape and awesome state of health...i wanna see if i can be 190 , am 5'4''. 10%bf if i get that ...then i will know i could have had a shot for nationals. right now am 178 11-12 %. Am super dedicated and disciplined i love bbuilding and am not the most gifted guy but i give it all...diet and hard training...i have this dream that may be i could have made it to nationals. What do you train for??

I train to look and feel good. More importantly training keep my ass clean from drugs and out of the bars which in turn keeps my ass out of trouble.

I train for physical and mental purposes. Like being bigger and stronger than your average person. To be more of an efficient killer if need b :)

Cause I love the struggle of getting bigger, you can’t buy your goals and it comes down to hard ass work!! Only 1% of people in the gym truly live the lifestyle, most are beach rat self centered assholes!

I mostly train for several reasons....one stated above...because I like to look good and my career requires me to be in good physical shape.

I touched weights for the first time for middle school football...that was 1979; then through HS and college...by then it was a habit. I don't feel right if I don't get in a workout; its my 'me' time and great therapy...anything that grinds on me gets pushed out on weights. It was also a great activity with the kids as they grew up; they both also are going / went to college on athletic scholies. Missing the last 3 weeks to pneumonia have tugged on the suck meter worse than I imagined.

Every man should engage in some form of physical training, whether it be powerlifting, bodybuilding, xfit, etc... It is part of a man's duty to be strong and fit. This isn't to say that every man must achieve the looks of Arnie or Dan Green, but allowing one's body to fall into disrepair is a tactical liability. Strength Training is also cheaper than a therapist and safer than anxiety medication.

Whoa...slow your roll bro...when the apocalypse comes, I don't wanna have to be fightin a bunch of jacked zombies...I wanna be swingin my axe on hipster zombies

Touche... but maybe we'd be impervious to the zombie virus.... hipsters would fall victim to the virus bc of their sedentary lifestyle and vegan diets. Just a thought.
