Troubles getting enough calories

So since this last January I decided it was time to get back into shape. I'm 37 now, still look like I'm in my upper 20s, still really active with sports, I'm in the construction trade so I'm always in the go, and have leaned out, gotten more vasicular, gotten bigger everywhere, but have yet to put any bigger mass on. I guess my question would be, it's hard to eat more than I already do, what are some good ways to get more calories protein and or carbs to help fuel my muscles and gains. Also, one thing I'm really weak on, is sleep. I never get 8hrs of sleep accept maybe the weekends. I know muscles need sleep to recover, but is that really so important. I have buddies that sleep little that are pretty shredded, so idk. Any recommendations? Whey protein I use, haven't seen much from it since starting it a couple months ago. No diff in the scale, or with my eye.. I feel like I'm always down on calories, and everything and just can't get enough in.

I have a crappy appetite, so I blend and drink most of my calories. 2 dozen eggs, 4 scoops of protein,4 tbsp. Peanut butter, with a couple tbsp. of oil a couple cups of water. 1-2 cans of salmon blended up with 2 cups of water a bit of chicken bullion. Sometimes I will blend 8 oz chicken thighs w bullion and water. I manage at least 300 gr protein 4000 + calories a day. I eat my food 1 x a day. unless its a holiday...Just finished eating Supper for Rosh Hashanah...I can hardly breath.
 
Just eat more. Make sure you are counting your calories and macros. You might be eating less than you think. Oh and sleep is extremely important. I don't know that many people that actually get 8 hours though. Whey protein isn't gonna make much of a difference. It's just food, really. However there is a big difference in that it's in powder form. I don't believe we are meant to drink our protein. We are made to eat meat, that's why we have teeth. I'd even go so far as to say you'll make better gains eating and chewing meat than if you got the same exact amount of calories in liquid form. Also, don't believe that you have to eat boneless skinless chicken all the time as your meat. Have some red meat and it doesn't have to be lean either. Steaks, hamburger(80%), chicken drumsticks, skin on thighs....Plus if you are doing cardio, cut it out or cut it down. If you're doing a ton of volume, cut that down also.
 
I ran a program by Wendler called building the monolith. One of the diet requirements was 12 whole eggs and 1.5lbs ground beef a day. It's what made me finally realize I wasn't eating enough to grow. Put on 10lbs natty in 5 weeks.

The only reason to do that is if your jaw is wired shut. Even then I wouldn't do that. I'd drink protein drinks.

I'm telling ya! I tried drinking 8 whole eggs every morning but it started to fuck with my stomach so I stopped..

You have to work up to that. I drink 2 dozen every day..10 used to send me running for the toilet an hr after I drank it.
 
Is it really that difficult to cook eggs?. They are the easiest thing to cook and take the least amount of time.

Used to eat a full lb. of beef, a full lb. Chx, a d 18 eggs everyday for a long time, got me over a platuea.

Over time,. That and the rest of the calories came from
Brown rice,. Oats, sweet potato, reg rice at times.

And took me from just under 200, to 241 inside 8 months

Plus supps, weight gainer, meal replacement s between, or right after training.

It is not the cooking.. I just have a stomach like a girl. lol I can get the food down I just cant keep it down. blending it aids in digestion. Trust me on this.. when you guy hit your 50s you will be looking for tricks to keep your size and food intake. you will say.. that crazy old guy might have a point. lol
 
Mk-677 is a good "SARM"that triggers hunger. Research and consider adding it to your supplementation.

I too have similar struggles as you, but I have a desk job so I can preserve more calories than you. even with a desk job, I can't consume enough calories via "normal" methods of consuming calories so I make my own 1,000 - 1,500 calories shakes. Lots of raw egg whites, almond butter or peanut butter, protein shake, whole milk, dash of vanilla + hazelnut coffee creamer. I replace almond or peanut butter w/ powdered peanut butter when I am not trying to consume higher amounts of calories. I drink a shake in the morning and right before bed. When I am not trying to consume high amounts of calories and when I am in a hurry, I'd simply drink raw egg whites w/ dash of flavored coffee creamer. Its actually pretty good and I'd bet you wouldn't know you were drinking raw egg whites if you didn't know ahead of time.

Since you mentioned your in construction....I am thinking you don't have the luxury of having a fridge near by to keep your drinks cold so an option is to pack your own lunch filled with snacks so you can constantly munch.

I've never had the problem of not being able to eat enough food. I'm 45 and have Irritable bowel syndrome. You guys just keep eating however you like though. Ever try probiotics?. Or if you actually have trouble keeping your food down, have you ever had a consult with a gastroenterologist?. They might be able to help you.
 
I'm 51 , it was easier when I was younger. I just never had a big appetite. Thanks for the suggestions I appreciate it.
 
MK677 will make u unstoppable.. ill gain ten lbs everytime (though it often comes off) Ill still keep a few lbs on... I have been bulking since I was 18 and weighed 135...Now at 210 and 220 was heaviest but STILL know I could eat more!!!! I to sometimes let my stomach shrink and cant eat a whole pizza like my brothers or lot guys I know(unless IM straving) BUT...If you start with 3 eggs..after a few days do 4 and so on...Your stomach WILL expand. You have to build your diet like you do your body. Slow and steady. I drink Up your Mass by MHP or cheap Dymatize...Both work well but MHP I think is best tho they just changed it...So from shakes you could het 2-3 thousand cals and then eat 3 meals and get 2-3 thoudand more
