Exercising and not getting the results? You see your friend getting in shape but you are not able to? Don’t be disheartened yet, it not that your exercise is not working out, rather it's the small mistakes that you might be making in between.
As a beginner especially, we understand that you are not fully aware of the smallest bit of details and that is why we are here to help you out with that! Let's discuss all the small things that might go wrong while you are exercising that are stopping you from achieving your goal.
1. Cardio followed by weight training
Now you might think you are breaking so much sweat in both exercises and that the result combined would be so much better. But when you actually consider it, what you are doing is wrong, the duo does not go that way! Rather if you do weight lifting first and then cardio, that will optimize your effort as weight lifting basically burns glycogen, let all glycogen be used up in your weight lifting and then move towards cardio to burn that fat.
2. Divide the pressure each day
Don’t focus on just one set of muscles for a long time, rather, divide your workout in between your muscle, have a leg day, followed by a bicep day then an abs day etc etc. this way you will be equally working on all muscles maintaining a balance and giving rest to each muscle after workout.
3. Excessive cheat days
To us it's only 1 cupcake that we are eating, but have you ever wondered of the calories in that one compact sweet. Try to control your urges and not have many cheat meals, as the affect goes a long way!
4. Carb intake
Now your body functions in a way that it uses up glycogen first and then moves towards the fat for any energy that is required, so when you exercise, the body first uses glycogen and then fats. But when you eat a carb rich diet, it provides you with a boost of instant glycogen and that is what hinders your fitness plans. It sacrifices itself for the fat while you are exercising, so there is little or no change to the fat by the end of the day. So avoid using processed whole rice, or pasta, ice creams or even whole bread, it will only add you extra carbs resulting in high glycogen levels.
5. DON’T starve
Starving is the worst thing you could do for fitness. Starving never helps you lose weight instead it brings down your immune system along with so many deficiencies that it is actually doing more harm than good to your fitness. It leaves you weak, mal nourished and easily fatigued.
6. Don’t blindly follow diet
Well, that’s one reason nutritionists exist! Dieting is different for every body type, you may lack certain things that the other person does not or vise versa, hence blindly following someone else's diet might not always work for you, instead, take professional help and work out your own diet plan in order to get a perfect fit for yourself.
7. Be consistence
Slow and steady wins the race, sounds familiar? This was the most useful lesson I learned as a child, surprisingly it implies to every other situation so be consistent. As even one day of not following the plan may result in you coming back to square one. You wouldn’t want all that effort to go to waste, would you? So just stick to the plan, take baby steps at first so that it’s easier for you to follow.
8. Don’t look for support while exercising
Many times we hold on to the side grips while doing cardio, these are called supports and they drastically bring down the efficiency of or exercise. By taking support you divide your force and are talking help from an external object. This hinders your progress and you might not achieve the results you wanted just by this small mistake. So remember to do the maximum amount of effort by your body alone.
9. Rushing the steps to complete number
While working on fitness, it is not the number that counts, rather the force that does. Rushing your reps might feel convenient but note that it does not let your muscles feel the force and hence decreasing the desirable output.
So these were a few often repeated mistakes that we overlook, but they all add up and make us not get the desirable effect. Start avoiding these and feel the difference!
