Hey gents. Well, you all know by now that Im a bargain hunter. Havent always been. Im also a CRAZY saver. Havent always been. To the point that I often buy items off EBay, including at time used high dollar clothing, and automatically put 30% of my checks in to savings every 2 weeks and NEVER ever touch it. No matter what. This all came about after a bad relationship left me in bankruptcy and broke despite a 6 figure income! I couldnt buy a freakin car or rent one for that matter EVEN with that income. Why? Credit sucked. She killed it. How did I recover to a near perfect score now? Used a repair service. Yep. It worked. I used Lexington Law and paid around $100 p month for 2 years or so. They removed EVERYTHING. My late pays, bankruptcy, you name it. This was a decade ago but, my buddy just had recent success with it also. If any of you are in such a place; check them out. Health also means financial health. Nothing will fuck your cortisol like worry and nothing makes us worry like finances. Just felt like passing this along as someone did to me a decade ago. Some of the best advice Ive ever had. Take care bro’s!

Its like working your butt off in the gym and finally attaining your loftly goals and then getting hurt and losing all that hard earned muscle. I am only using this as an analogy for those who have never been there. Although I have not been there I can completely understand how it could effect many other aspects of your everyday life. I have been very fortunate and I commend you on getting your credit life back on track and I know others who have gone through the same issues. Chalk it up as a hard life lesson learned. Best of luck and success in the future my friend.

Thx brother! This was over 10 years ago and it only took 2 years to fix but woulda taken me till just recently had I not gotten that advice. I was taken by the hot cookie cutter blond who was gonna be a “model” but turned out to just be a whore. Landed a former NY runway model second time around. Lotsa lessons learned....lol

Mine's in the dumps bro and I am looking into credit repair, which is basically where you pay people to challenge the legitimacy of your debts. They write the credit bureau and the debtor has 30 days to defend the debt, to prove it's legitimacy and if they don't then it must be removed from your credit report. The reason this takes time is because usually the debtor will defend the debt but these credit repair guys are so persistent, constantly challenging the debts that eventually the debtors will slip up (admin error, slacking, etc) and forget to answer the challenge and they lose their debt and your credit goes up. Pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. Better than consolidating and paying off a bunch of bullshit.

I went through the same thing divorce wise. She maxed out all the card cash advances and quit paying for the brand new Toyota. Wanna know what worked for me? Keeping my property and income in joint accounts and ignoring the collection agencies. After a certain amount of time they write it off automatically.

Hell yes! Lexington Law got rid of all of my negative shit in about 2 years. Everything. It was awesome. Forgot about them until my buddy was telling me his situation and I gave him them also.

You can purchase Equifax 3 in 1 report and dispute yourself. Ive never had any major credit issues but helped bump it up 30 points or so just but eliminationg some old bullshit reports in there.

I dont know what a credit repair agency can offer other then just maybe sending letter's as well? Disputes are made online through Equifax and companies have 30 days to respond, alot cheaper then 100 a month.

Very true but its difficult to keep up with the agencies and timelines. Miss em and u start over. It was well worth the hundo a month. To pull BK’s off in 2 years that were to stay for 10 was awesome! Went from like around a 400 score after this happened to near 700 2 years later and now i always maintain over 800.

Mine is not the best (went bankrupt in 2014 after getting laid off from a great job with IBM in 2008). Also lost my home in that crash too, but now I just bought a condo with an FHA loan that has a good rate as now I have a decent IT job at a hospital.

Used a credit repair agency in the past and that helped to some extent.

I've been hungry before when work was slow (union trade) but have been lucky to always be able to pay everything. Any of you guys have kids? I'm 30 no kids but friends who are now out of college have told me that school loans are considered bad debt!?? What the hell! This whole country pushes college down high school kids throats, and yet it's bad debt!? I wish more places would offer info on the trades to students. Shoot, a lot of high schools in my area are no longer even offering shop classes!!! How is a kid supposed to pick up basic skills? Reading a tape measure, getting familiar with hand tools, development of their eye, how are the supposed to work on their mechanical ability? Not meaning auto mechanics necessarily just meaning their general familiarity with tools and how to use them or how to walk themselves through using a new tool. I've often used a new tool and had to teach myself, it takes time but if you've never used tools it'd be hard to figure any complex tool out!

College loans are like any other type of credit line. If you make your monthly payments on time each month it will have a positive impact on your credit, if you miss them, it will be negative. Luckily, i graduated in 2003 when federal loans were still available with low, locked in interest rates. My college loan was so easy to pay off, it was nothing like a credit card or traditional line of credit. Sallie Mae let me miss months of payments early on or lower payments each month with very little impact to my credit. If you miss a few months of CC or car payments, it will hammer your credit score.

Maybe I was misinformed? I thought they were considered 'bad debt' so to speak and they didn't really help your credit. I've been wrong before though! Lol
