So a week and a half ago I fractured two vertebrae. I did it somehow in the preceding days but it came to a head at about 1am while I was reading in bed. I was suddenly in extreme pain and couldn't stop hyperventilating. I was going into shock rapidly.
I was so bad that I was going to call an ambulance but my sister answered on the first ring like she was waiting for me to call, so she took me to the ER. Keep in mind that I've been through a lot of pain in my life including broken and/or exploded bones, multiple gunshot wounds, atv and car accidents, and various other injuries. Even compared to my history this is some of the worst pain I've ever had. Even though they see the fractures on the x-rays I'm only getting 2 percocet a day, I'm supposed to take one every twelve hours.
I think the doctors look at me and see an apparently healthy fit man and even though they have the x-rays as proof they think that I must not be in that much pain. So I'm bedbound except for when I have to go to the store or doctor, then I take 4 painkillers, get a shower and take care of as much as possible before getting home and icing my back until bed again.
I just wanted to complain somewhere since I have to keep up appearances with my family so they're not stressed out about everything. I'm really glad that my sister is helping out, I normally care for my parents by myself in addition to running my own business. I'm going in for a bone density scan this next week to try and get to the root of the problem.
I'm worried that this is going to change my lifestyle greatly. I've always been active and worked hard, now I don't know what to do. Bitching done.

etc at profession you certainly can . Again depends on injury back then I had no Internet you do at least . First having been to almost 50 docs during that period my biggest pet peeve is people advising you to see a chiropractor. Sorry forgive but that’s truly just ignorance. They do only a specific treatment and certain conditions ( like mine ) could be further injured by chiropractors . For spine depending you should begin with a orthopedic specialist who likely will get thorough testing like MRI or cat scan . My spine shattered around l4/l5 at the time they usually opened up from front then used screws and rods . My guy who pioneered this technique then was non fda approved but I did it - through small incision took shavings if my hip bone then decompressed the crack in vertebrae inserted 2 thimball size titanium cages to serve as internal cast like when they use screen fir concrete - they took liquified shavings of my hip bone then bonded around the cage - this was a form of a “ fusion” . Best thing I ever did . Though took 7 physical therapists to even find a team that understood his post surgery rehab of course I ended up having to drive hour 3 days week 3 hours therapy . Primarily weightlifting for erectors and transverse abdominals. Took 3 months for the bone to set and two years to harden . I’m now 53 never had issue since and After surgery I threw my weight lifting belt in the trash - I still do heavy squats dead’s I do aikijutsu , aikido , Judo ( basically taking turns being thrown. Violently on my back 2-4 hours day . My physical therapy ( every patient actually ) was group PT did stiff dead’s with milk crate filled with weight from floor to shelf waist height then waists to shoulder , nautilus lower back machine and 90 degree hyperextension holds the top of contraction for ten seconds 25 reps . One graduated by demonstrating you lift 300% of body weight . 30 years I still do variation of this - hyoers 3x25, nautilus lower back 2x 20 225 , stiff dead’s 225 25/30 Reps ( I also do rack dead’s for back lol) no belt I do 225 bent barbell rows 15-20 reps as warm up for back . Now sorry for long post your back injury may be totally different- I’m just showing there’s hope - they have come so far in orthopedic tech say only you need a piece jamming a nerve shaved it’s like going to dentist . When you are able to rehab - work on erectors and abs make your body your support belt
