I'm going to compete

I did my one and only show back in 2005 and vowed to compete again when I got big enough. As we all know that never happens but I have had the itch to compete again. The above flyer is for the show I'm going to do. The date is the same day my father passed away in 2012 so I feel it is my date with destiny. I will be doing the masters over 40 and possibly the open as well. I started a few weeks back at 215lbs and with barely a diet and some cardio I'm sitting at 205 today. I'm thinking I'll end up around 190 which I believe puts me at the bottom of the light heavies. Part of me feels the best thing to do in that case is suck down to 189 and be the top of the middleweights. However if I can grab a little more lean weight while staying lean maybe I can stay just under 200 and sit a little closer to the middle of the light heavies. With a Disney vacation from aug-26th till sept 3rd I'm losing 8 days of training, supps and dieting but since I feel I'm in a good spot right now I think the seven weeks left when I return will be plenty of time. Wish me luck and I'm going to try and post as much as possible for everyone to follow.

Good luck man, we're pulling for ya!

Saturday was d day. I weighed in at 185.6 which put me in light heavies for the open and I also did the masters over 40. I got fourth out of nine in the over 40 but I did not make top five in the open. I only have a few pics on my phone right now but I will share them. And yes I know I should cover my face so please save telling me that.

I will get more pics uploaded once I get them uploaded from our camera. I have been eating like an animal
Since the show ended and of course the first 24hours were mostly treats but by Sunday night I started making sure I got enough good food in too. As of last night I’m back up to 196. I’ve decided to try and incorporate a more power lifting type regime for a while because I have never trained liked that so it should be a good shock. My thoughts are also that all the mass monsters have some sort of powerlifting background so there must be something to incorporating that training too. My goal right now is the same it’s been for a while, get to that illusion 240lb weight. My focus is legs size first and foremost and then everything else. Now that the stress of prep is over I am hoping to have more time to be available online. Thanks everyone for the support.

Yes..! Looking good there Brother, nice job..!

I intend on doing a Classic Physique show myself say, spring time, was going to this past spring, and it was all coming together nicely, but too much on my plate, then my car got stolen right from my drive, with alot of belonging's in it, just thru me off,

Any rate, great job, may I ask your age..? And do you intend to do another..?

Ya know, your never too old (age is just a number, that's the way I treat it..! ) And you should be quite proud, because you set example for those around you. Loved ones, kid's {if any } . My aim is to "Inspire" , have always been that way in every aspect of my life. Good for you..!

Keep on, Keepin On....!

I’m 42. I’m unsure about another. I have been fighting to bring my legs up for a long time but they are still behind the rest of me. I’m more motivated then ever to get them up to par. At the risk of sounding like a poor sport, the sacrifice was not worth the return. I know I did what I needed to do and brought the best conditioned me I could but there were three men that day who were better then me overall. The concept that my best wouldn’t be good enough to take my class never crossed my mind prior to that morning. My fear had been not coming in at my best and that being my downfall. I am proud of the transformation I made and I am grateful to have placed but the personal cost was too great.
I’m also happy to be able to eat whatever I want now. I’ve been very lax with my diet this past week but I do need to come back to reality some starting tomorrow. I let my protein intake drop a lot and that isn’t going to work for any longer

Don't be so tuff on yourself, ya gotta live too,

Legs "are" Brutal,. I'm not going to lie, I'm in the same boat,
Have been neglecting them out if sheer (lack.of motivation) I know what I need to do, and soon I'm going to step up the ante'.

I'm 52, and exactly your age a lil' over 10 years ago I won the. HW in my local National Qualifier, and did notta with it let life get in the way ! Which happens ) and stopped training altogether for nearly 6+ years

Fell to 148 lbs ( I'm 6' 1 1/2 " ) yeah, sad ....!

Now, back in the game at 52+,. Was up to 217, today 190

I recently lost 21 lbs in the last 6 weeks due to a modest injury at work..
Feeling better now, ( and it's"Game On" )..!

Just. Have a few things to get off my plate to ease the burden, & press on..!

My focus, for this winter "Is Legs"..!

Great job, and keep it up..! Will Hollar back.

Stay Inspired...!

Thank you very much. I’ve been training for 23yrs now and I have been working on improving kegs since I did my first show back in 2005. They’ve come a long way as sad as that is to say. I definitely want to tell you to keep at it as well. I love the training and I will do it until they throw dirt on me (ct fletcher). I am hoping to be more active now that the rest is behind me.

It's a tough battle. You should be proud of yourself. I'm 51 and working to get my size back up to compete in August. I have had some injuries, but that's part of getting old. You did well, and I find it encouraging. Keep after it!

Agreed, I've had my share of serious injury myself including a head and neck injury from a hard fall 15 yrs back. It was a hard road back for me but still plugging away considering I have some physical limitations now.
