how sanitary are you? (pinning)

hello brothers & sisters

I find myself being incredibly OCD about sanitization while i'm drawing and pinning. Two needles, one for drawing, one for pinning, wipe everything down with isopropyl alcohol, make sure hands are clean, and cats are nowhere in sight (for floating hair). It seems like a bit much, but I just feel like any other way would be dirty. I have some gym bros that literally use the same needle for a whole week of pinning/drawing with no problems though. I know the two pins are so that the needle will be as sharp as possible, but I guess i'm just wondering if you guys have any horror stories of dirty pinning/ am i going too overboard with the cleanliness? any help is appreciated!

I always use a large bore...18 or 20 gauge needle for drawing and change needles to a 22 or 23 gauge for injection. I always cleanse the site before and after injection with isopropyl alcohol. Usually the only time I may reuse a needle is when using and insulin syringe.
 
Your not overdoing it. I’m super ocd as well. I will only pin after a shower. I wash my hands, alcohol on everything, I use different needles from drawing and pinning, I back load slin pins so I don’t draw with the needle, I usually clean the area twice or more with alcohol prior to injecting. I’m super anal but after you see a few abscess pictures...... no chancing it for me.
 
Oh yes I am super careful but I did get an infection on my y very last pin a few weeks ago. I figure i happened to get a tiny piece of the stopper under the skin and it hurt like bloody hell. Took some antibiotics to help kill any germs so it took over a week for swelling to go down.

It sure pays to keep clean!

thanks for the validation.... I knew I couldn't have been the only one. Why only after a shower? does it have to do with the warmth and your muscle being relaxed?

yeah this is honestly my worst nightmare.... what's you guys opinion on bad pins? If i hit a vein or aspirate blood i'll pull the needle out and try again... do you guys use the same needle for that, or would you swap it out in that scenario?

As long as that needle does not come in contact with anything you are G2G.
 
You’re doing great IMO. This is not something you want to screw up. When in doubt, wipe it down and change it out.

I do pretty much the same thing. I heat the vial before drawing to make it thinner, wipe it with alcohol then wipe inject site before and after then hop in the shower and rub it down and the heat from the shower will activate better blood flow and get it away from the inject site

that's what i figured the shower was for! thanks for the insight. I alternate glutes in my current EoD. Was wondering what you guys do if by the time you gotta inj in the same side (ie.) monday, right glute, wed. left glute, fri. right glute, if by friday your right glute is still sore from the monday injection? I don't run into this issue often, but when I do it makes me hesitant to inject, and i usually just want to miss an injection. Is the muscle sore from the oil not being dissolved fully? or is it just sore from the pin tearing into the layers of muscle?
 
I don't have any horror stories (thank goodness) but I've noticed with myself that I tend to forget how important it is to not inject bacteria/germs into my body. I used to use at least 2 swaps, 1 for vial and injection site and another swap to be on safe side. But last night I used 1 swap for vial and both injection site.

So, my point is don't let a visit to ER be your wake up call. I am sure my audience is limited to meself because you guys know better than to half ass your pinning

You know its not limited to just you. If I use an alcohol swab on vial or inj site its a very rare occasion. Im quite sure most of us need to be more diligent with our processes but after thousands of pins, you do start to slack off

U need more spots. Glute traps pecs delts biceps and quads is the spots I do.

30+ years of pinning (a test shot each 10 days at bare minimum), I've always followed a simple, basic protocol and have only had two minor infections over those several decades time (each time, I ran a 10 day course of antibiotics/amoxicillin and the infections went away). Both of those times were the result of using water based winstrol - specifically, reusing an opened vial over several months (you do not want to open a water based vial, and use it beyond a month's time).
Basics: alcohol on rubber stopper; alcohol inj site, fresh pin (I use an 18g draw, and a 23-25g for inj... sometimes back-loading a slin pin). And to be honest, I reuse the draw pin many MANY times over. I keep it attached to a barrel, and I spray it down with alcohol after each use. It's stored wet with alcohol. I have NEVER had a single issue with doing this.
 
I havnt used alcohol swabs in over 5 yrs and always draw and shoot e same pin...sometimes 3-4x...

Never had an issue but need to be more careful

Yeah I slipped a bit on the last pin of the last cycle and got an infection in my right leg alright...took a couple weeks to get rid of it. Shit was painful as fuck as could not bend my right leg as it swole up pretty big.

I always swap pins when drawing then injecting plus wiping the WHOLE vial with 90% alcohol wipe then use another wipe to wipe the area I want to pin.

Another thing is I handle syringes by the barrel not the plunger and only touch the plunger's handle when injecting.
