High calories before workouts?

When do most people have the largest intake of calories, before or after their workouts? Give a short explanation.
 
the best thing to do in my opinion is to stay consistent with calorie intake. all my meals consist of anywhere between 400-600 calories, but i eat 8 times a day. eating small frequent meals is the key to making the leanest gains. it keeps the metabolism in high gear. i would never eat a 1000 calorie meal because it would spike insulin pretty sick, and too much protein would go to waste. i might prepare a 1000 calorie meal but carry it around and eat it over the course of a couple hours. my advice is to spread out your calories evenly throughout the day. keep calorie intake consistent but change up the macronutrients of the meal depending on the time of day or activity level.
