Bad Day - Auto Accident

Today was rough, I was on my way into work and this guy cut across 3 lanes on the interstate, did a 360 and slammed into my car. I had to brake hard to avoid a head on collision. Felt like I was in a movie... shit was moving in slow motion. All I remember is this white ford ranger merging, then turning, then spinning out of control.... Bad shit happens at the worst time. I walked away from it.. got some minor cuts from the glass and a wicked back ache but that's it, Im not sure if the guy was asleep, under the influence or if he just lost control of his truck (he had a donut wheel on the front passenger side) but I was pretty pissed to see him drive away with minor damage while I waited for a tow truck. I had OT on this check and this little fiasco cost me 3 hrs of OT. He did have insurance at least... I wonder if I can get them to reimburse me for my lost wages?

That sucks but at least you walked away, and if that's your car it doesn't look totaled. I hate bad drivers. Most of the bad drivers just don't care. I saw a guy in a left turn only lane cut all the way across and actually go right to turn into a plaza. So he's all the way on the left side in the only lane to turn left and he goes through the intersection turning right.

Yea that is my car. I had it towed to the shop bc I wasn't going to drive on the freeway with a busted window... He hit me pretty hard. It rocked my vision momentarily.
I know what you mean by bad drivers. The way I look at it is you have one job to do while you are driving... pay attention and be safe (ok maybe that's two). But I see so many people texting or doing dumb shit. The guy told me that he had just dropped his son off at school. He didn't appear to be intoxicated... It was 7 am after all. But IDK. I can't see how he skipped 3 lanes of traffic and started coming towards my passenger side head on and then started spinning. Im very fortunate it wasn't worse. Definitely got me reconsidering that itch to buy a motorcycle

Been Down on a Motorcycle twice in my life, first one was a bunch of road rash all over, banged up the bike , second one (hit a spillage of diesel fuel going 60 on an 'S' turn which I loved to lay the bike over & back in a quick maneuver , well , that was the last time I did that .

Spent my first 5 days of senior year in the hospital by with a double fracture to my pelvis, and ankle swole the size of a football, crutches for the next 8-9 weeks of 12th grade.

Anyhow, glad your fine , car is replaceable. Fixable.

Thats exactly what I kept telling myself on the commute back home today. Any wreck you can walk away from is a blessing in disguise and I still got my job and my health. Take that frustration and blast some shoulders and traps.

I've been trying to suppress the road rage that comes with seeing bad drivers driving badly, I slick wanna run some people off the road sometimes... or beat the shit outta their blinkers... I mean they don't use em anyway so its not like they will miss em.

I try to let that shit go tho, Driving angry has its own set of consequences and I find its better to be a defensive driver than an aggressive one. SHIT DIDNT WORK FOR ME TODAY THO

Its experiences like this that have me saving for a corvette rather than buying a crotch rocket. My old lady picked me up after the wrecker came and the first thing out her mouth was "Now what do you think would have happened if you were riding a motorcyle?'

"I would have been able to maneuver much quicker and I would have gotten the fk out of the way... DUH!"

LoL. Yea, the car can be fixed. Not too worried about that. It was just a helluva day. I started this new job and the commute is nuts. I went from driving 7 minutes to work to driving 50 minutes each way... hwy miles. Today was the first day I was late. I like doing shit other people cant seem to do... like show up to work 30 min early ED. I hated that I was late and there wasn't shit I could have done to change it.

I pretty much kept my distance from the driver until i calmed down. It would have been pretty easy to trip that mfkr into oncoming rush hour traffic... Oops, may bad..."he must have slipped officer" ... somehow I think that may have made things a bit worse (but I woulda laughed my ass off)

Dude didn't even approach me UNTIL after LEO arrived. I guess I had that "eat shit and die" look etched on my face. FKR made me late AND wrecked my car AND screwed up my OT... not like Im gonna be happy about that shit.

Its water under the bridge. I'm gonna find a way to get his insurance co. to cover my lost wages. My car is almost paid for. I was thinking of going with a Civic Type R once I get it paid off... still on the fence abt that though.

Hate a car... it will last forever

Yea My day was shot to hell. Got to work late. Ended up having to pay to park bc the free spot I get at 7 am was taken. I was busy for most of the day trying not to think about the stress of having to deal with the insurance co.
Im definitely happy I still have full use of my limbs...No matter how pissed off I was I was relieved that the other driver was ok. Shit happens.,, I just don't like when it happens to me!

Glad you father in law was able to walk away from tht man. You are right though. We never know when some bs is gonna happen. Better to make the most out of every breath we have.

I appreciate the positive vibes! I spoke with my insurance agent today. He told me it looks like its gonna be about 4k worth of repair work and I probably won't get my ride back until monday after Thanksgiving. Sigh... in the meantime I'm enjoying this Nissan Rouge I got from Enterprise

I'm looking into filing a diminished value claim with the guys insurance. They can fix it but I think I need to be compensated for the drop in resale price that this accident has caused. Anyone have any knowledge about this kind of thing?
