What do you guys buy as staples for quick lunches on a budget?

I’ll start:

4 McDoubles without the buns. Basically get 8 patties and a bunch of veggies in a bowl.
Total Cost is $4.40 with Tax.

2 Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Simple Scrambles
Just throw them in the microwave on 90 seconds.
Total Cost is $5.00.

I don’t do McDonald’s much, a double cheeseburger is only $1.10?

I’m with you.. that’s not beef you’re eating. Who the hell knows what it is? When it can sit out for months, and not decay or break down.. not good

Not true.
It’s 100% beef.
Google and fact check it, I swear it’s true.

A McDouble is only $1.00, yes.

But I’m with you bro.. if I’m on the go, a 1/2lb double burger from Backyard.. blot the grease and no bun. If I reallyyy hungry I’ll get some chicken teriyaki from Panda Express. A lot of sodium though.

I’ve actually put a lot of thought and googling into this McDouble thing.
In four McDoubles You’re getting 88 grams of protein, 4 carbs, and 120 grams of fat when you lose the bun.
If that’s your lunch you are looking at ~1,000 calories for $4.40.
That’s basically a keto meal.

Stop at heb. They sell shredded chicken breast in the deli. I think like 12 oz for like $7. Chick fil a sells roast chicken breast sandwiches as well for like $2.99. Granted its prepped so its most likely gonna be salty but for the most part i would say cleaner than a hamburger

Good info. Thanks.

Dude, both of those “meals” have to be in excess of 1.5-2g of sodium! Fucking stroke on a plate waiting to happen!

Correction: I just googled and one McDouble has 850mg of sodium! You’re doing 3400mg or sodium in one “meal” LOL good luck in your endeavors!

I don’t eat the bread, but I do get a ton of sodium.
I also sweat all the fucking time and drink a ton of fluids.

LOL it doesn’t matter how much water you drink or how much you sweat. Do you realize the stress you’re putting on your kidneys? I think you need to do a little research and reevaluate your eating habits. It’s for your health and nothing more. I believe the recommednded sodium intake is like 1500-2000 per day and you’re doubling that on only one meal. Trust me bro, watch your health. I’ve been down that kidney and BP path and had to go on losartan for it.

Salt doesn’t impact my bp or kidneys much at all.

Certain drugs do, and I stay away from them.

At sams club and Costco they sell frozen grilled chicken strips. They are usually seasoned so you need to watch the sodium, but I take a handful and put it in a ziplock bag, add a slice or two of cheddar cheese or some almond and you have an on the go snack, with high quality protein and no carb. If you want carbs I have added in an orange, apple or banana. Since it’s frozen I usually won’t have until the afternoon and leave in my cooler, but acts as a ice pack lol and tastes good once it thaws out.

Another thing I really like is they now sell a box of prepacked hard boiled eggs, like the ones you buy at the gas station. 12 packs of 2 hard boiled eggs. Grab some of those on my way out the house. They are clutch.

At 7 eleven when I’m on the road I usually get two packs of hard boiled eggs (1.50 a piece) and either a pack of cheese or piece of fruit, or quest bar. All under 5$

Let’s calm down on the sodium talk, I know some past pros and current ones that will eat 2 double burgers at in and out and live at kfc. There’s a time and place for it, and it’s not like your eating like that everyday or 8 meals like that. During the summer months I sweat like crazy and take salt packets to work to replenish what I lost. Watching sodium is a good thing but I think it gets a bad rap real quick.

so for 5 bucks I can get 5 jr bacon cheese burgers at Wendy’s, and love em!! Ketchup only!!

Some more 5$ meals

Sams club often has cold rotisserie chicken beasts, four large chicken breasts in one pack and it’s 3.98. Sick deal of your sams club has em. Get a bag of avocados for 3-5$ and have 4 simple carb free meals.

Wendy’s has chicken go wraps for a around 1.50 iirc. Get three of those. Also Wendy’s is super convenient with the baked potatoes.

another Really good one is most gas stations and pharmacies have Greek yogurts, fruit, cheese sticks and once again hard boiled eggs, nuts and protein bars. Also at 7-Eleven they had some grilled chicken skewers in a pack.

At Trader Joe’s you can get 12oz of grilled chicken in some different flavors for around 5$, greek yogurt, one of the medium size tubs (50g protein) for 4 bucks. A bag of 6 hard boiled eggs for 3 bucks. Roasted Cocoa nibs( fat source and huge antioxidant) for 2$. They have sandwich wraps for around 5$ also. A box of coconut oil packets for 4$, 12 packets like ketchup, great to add to food, shakes or coffee on the go.

If you couldn’t tell I am usually cutting the carbs out, I only really eat them around training, so for you guys that eat carbs, my apologies.
