Did meet couple weeks back and AGAIN I made rookie mistakes and also felt like I got shafted by judges. Was announced as first place got 1st place trophy and looked online several days later when they finally posted results...I was SECOND LOL...But my first meet with the recent fed I left not knowing if I placed as the meet was HUUGGEE two day meet and in my class like 12 people so I assumed I didnt place even with decent total I had no clue who was in my class as they go by weights for flights. Well I got home and saw I was 1st so I emailed them and the director got snotty saying " I specifically remember calling your name and you didnt come forward." My bro was right next to them as I chewed outside noit knowing they were starting awards. So I guess Ill take the 1st place as my missing trophy LOL... ANyway heres the story...
I drove 6 hours to stay at my brothers who was 45 min from meet so I visit and do meet which I intend to do evry year but he was injured so I had him to help warmup and handoff which makes a huge help. Well night before I checked meet and Im in "Overflow/standby" when I paid 2 months ahead and went in for AM weighins to speak to them and I spoke for 30 sec to explain was cut off with "WHATS YOUR POINT??" by staff. Then they moved me though i went back to check and they were confused so good thing I did so..I also told them I emailed the meet director as the site said to do if u need immediate help the night b4 and they laughed at me and said "LOL hes not goingto answer YOUR email" They werent SUPER snotty but def come across as " We run this shit your just the fking lifter" type attitude whether they mean it or not... So
1. Squats 405( I do this for ten but I missed bench commands last two meets and ALWAYS start super light so I never bomb out, also planned on 700 dead and saving energy.) 2nd attempt - 455 called for depth. I went close stance and chest was caving into knees pretty much ass to floor. 3rd attemtt 500... I was thinking Ill show them depth and went legit ass to floor easy as fuck but guees what? I forgot to look at judge as looking at him gets you a wave to"SQUAT" command... So jumped command no lift!!!
2. Bench 315 350 375 all good with LONG pauses by judges and long wait to "rack" I could of hit 385 as it was quick but was just starting to get that shakey feeling on lockout. MEET pr.
3. 585 opener. Smoked felt like empty bar. 2nd attempt 700. Table lady was like "700"? 700lbs??" lol I laughed yes ... so bars loaded go down and grab and go ...Chalk covered bar so i couldnt see grip area resulting in uneven grip. STILL smoked it and held lock out while brother in crowd recording yelled "lock it!!" I thrust chest out shoulders back knees lockes completely straigh. Look at judge and gives me down command as the bar starts slipping in fingers so Im holding bar in my right hand with my fking fingers lol. I put it down feeling like "YES" i got it but Here "and that lift is NO good" ... Couple guys were asking as I took belt off why I got red lighted..I said i didnt know,,, Some older guys there said they didnt know either. Guys who have told me before my lift wasnt good for whatever reason so they were honest guys. I should of asked judges but despite my grip being gone due to the long finger hold I knew 3rd would be very tough. I came out for 3rd and didnt get it off ground, Assumed I burnt myself out. But WISH I had a side video as from front It was just as good as my opener lockout. Oddly One side judge sat behind me not on side and shook his head no lift before down command was given... He was the one who I emailed asking why I was put in overflow hen I paid way before they were full and also he was meet dirctor but showed up at the tail end of bench.. Im sure if the other judge saw him shaking his head no he'd also go with a red light... IMO it was a GOOD lift 100%... However NEXT year Im doing the same meet so I have a year to get my squat from 550ish to 600 comp depth while getting another 25 lbs on bench and upping my dead and working lockout...By my 3rm I should be at 725-735 on a deadlift only meet.. So I plan after ONE year of working weak points 725 after a 600 squat ... I plan on staying off gear and doing two cycles only next year one comp and one halfway thru year hopefully hitting 565/375/700 off then gearing up and hitting Anadrol deca test for meet next year.

Awesome brother, keep that shit up, and keep your head high "Fuck" snooty people, but like you said, your kinda at their whim, too bad they can't be more professional.

Maybe someone had a bad day, or didn't get any poontang last night, whatever it is/was they should keep that shit separate. At Fair, and not seemingly try & blackball someone who's putting in alot of time and effort.

Shame, how society is anymore, me... I'm fed up with people for the most part. Too many egos.

Good for you, those are awesome numbers , "and" respectable goals.

thanks bro appreciate it..they just have some "unique personalities" and have had drama especially on their social media.. But I like the federation and sometimes if you leave it to the judges like in an mma fight it's your fault...gotta knock the lift out of the park and leave no doubt so whatever...Ill smoke it next time and then some...

People are unbelievable sometimes. And those are some good numbers you're throwing up. You also have a good doable goal. You'll get there, I'm sure. I like you're choices of AAS for your cycle(s).
Keep up the good work!!

I like lifting heavy but don't think I could ever compete. Only because I have no desire to, plus I just don't like it when people watch me lift. Makes me nervous and sometimes it makes me screw up my lift and even injure myself. Good for you Donkey Kong. If those people are such jack-asses though maybe find another "federation" or whatever it's called to lift in. Great job on your lifts. Keep at it.

Thats a lot of volume there brotha....good for you. Its funny how you give someone just a little bit of authority and they think they rule the world.

Anyways....good ta hear my friend. Stay strong and keep up the hard work....it pays in the end.

It depends on the day but often I HATE the meet but once its done you look back at it as a great memory and learning experience. Sometimes you meet people who you hit it off with and all kinds of funny/cool characters or the opposite can happen and run into some jerk flipping out acting like an ass though usually everyone is cool and helps one another out. I don't like being there all day to hit 3 lifts(or 3 attempts of 3lifts) but if everything goes well it's a good time despite the waiting around and fighting over space, warmup weights and the occasional meet with 50 lifters and one bathroom(thats the worst...toilet papers usually gone before squats so I always bring my own lol and hand sanitizer as the water food preworkout etc can be bad to hold in when lifting heavy). When I lift though I usually get super angry at the judges and crowd and in my mind pretend they want me to miss so I use that as a tool to inc my intensity...

I consider it good EVERYONE even guys at meet who I know have tons of exp where asking why i got redligthed or what happened... I tried again on attempt 3 but due to hand slippage and holding on for life i had no grip left... Then squats I took very light as I planned on this to be 700 dead PR and hit 455 and gor called omn depth when knees were touching chest close stance lol...Hit 500 ass to floor but forgot down commnad so shitty total but this year its going UP to 1700 or Ill die trying lol

Both pics look good to me Donkeykong and I also feel you got robbed on that 700 as it looks like a clean pull. Next time be alert for the commands and not rush :)

Next time I am sure you'll nail it for damn sure. Why not have a mock meet with your fellow PL buddies? That can help you find any small issues with your lifts so you can fix them before they become big enough for a red-light.

buddy from gym mentioned doing this awhile ago but noone really jumpped on it... its so easy to forget whgen your lifting max weight to wait for a judge to tell you bench ,press rack...squat rack etc etc

Hey man,

It helps a ton to know what the judges at your meet are looking for. Some make you hold a pause on a bench for much longer than others.

But in the end it's ultimately up to them and you have no other say so. Just push through and train for your next meet. Don't let this discourage you. Looking good bro. Those are some great numbers.

Also, did you get to see Larry Williams at this meet? Looks like the same one he set the world record for 275 at.

Same fed but diff meet..His coach was there... The fed (RPS) is growing despite getting hate from alot of people prob because of the owners Gene and his wife get into it with alot of people or seem to anywayAlso, did you get to see Larry Williams at this meet?
